Community Benefit Overview
Hello Ducklings, we are deep into development and are ready to release a LOT more information! The focus today is what benefits Ducklings can expect from having one, besides the cutest PFP out there. I mean look at them:
Revenue Sharing
One of the most exciting things we are offering is the potential for revenue sharing among holders! Additional revenue sources will be built over time, but the first source of revenue is from royalties of Opensea, in which 1/3 will go to the DAO Treasury, 1/3 for further development, and 1/3 to addresses that are holding Cool Cats and Dreamy Ducklings. You are eligible to receive your share proportional to the number that you own, whichever is least. For example:
- Owning 3 Dreamy Ducklings and 1 Cool Cat provides you with 1 unit of revenue share
- Owning 3 Cool Cats and 1 Dreamy Duckling provides you with 1 unit of revenue share
- Owning 3 of both Cool Cats and Dreamy Ducklings provides you with 3 units of revenue share
Discussions with the community will determine frequency of payouts.
Voting Rights and Governance
Yes, your Duckling can vote! Governance is handled simply by 1 Duckling = 1 Vote. Governance will come into play when deciding events, assets to purchase with treasury funds, etc.
In short, the holders of the DAO token will have influence over the DAO.
Airdrops
We believe that airdrops are very important for the sustained growth of a community. Over time as more and more airdrops come out, more and more collaborations can happen and collectors can passively collect. This also allows “taking profits” for a more risk averse investor as well. Here’s an example:
The Cool Cats airdropped a collaboration with Ghxts to all of their Cool Cats holders. This NFT is currently selling on Opensea for 0.045 Eth, which is more than what the original mint cost of a Cool Cat was. Even more interesting, immediately after the airdrop, some of these NFTs were selling for 0.15 Eth. More generally, these secondhand effects are very interesting for the things that they allow:
- Indirect participation in the Dreamy Ducklings community — if the Dreamy Ducklings floor price rises above the point that somebody could afford, they can still participate by purchasing one of the airdrops on a secondary market
- Taking profits — For someone who may have used a significant amount of their capital when minting or purchasing secondhand an Dreamy Duckling, selling an airdrop can allow them to retain their Duckling while still rolling profits into something else. It’s a win-win!
However, you may not want to sell. We reserve the right to add future utility to all NFTs and products put out by the Dreamy Duckling team. And we do mean all.
Community Creation Program
Communities that thrive are ones that have great derivatives projects. These derivative markets are typically spearheaded by passionate community members who have some of their own art to contribute, and take requests from paying customers (other community members) who find value in their product and want to purchase their derivative NFT. The Dreamy Ducklings Team loves this aspect of NFT projects, and fully supports artists who want to build their legacy in this manner. But we want to take it a step further — official collaborations between community members and the Dreamy Ducklings Team.
The Community Creation Program product will look very similar to Airdrops. An NFT sent out from the team to holders of an Dreamy Duckling, but these ones will specifically be collaborations with community members. The airdrop will be free, but there will be a royalty associated with it in which 100% of proceeds will go to the community member who developed the artwork. We will be developing a process for submitting your creations to be a part of this program!
The Right Technology
The Team is committed to ensuring a fair launch for the Dreamy Ducklings collection. This includes masking hosting images on IPFS, and even metadata. This will be accomplished in two waves: During the minting process, metadata will be hosted on IPNS. It will be pinned to two different servers, ensuring that there is some decentralized service for metadata. After minting is completed, metadata will be posted onto IPFS and pinned to a remote pinning service, effectively freezing the metadata.
Metaverse Integrations
The Dreamy Ducklings team is well aware of the desire to include Ducklings into different metaverse games and even with real world items, such as clothing and (hopefully) art galleries in the future. The unique verifiable nature of NFTs ensures that you own an item and nobody else can.
Future Generation
The truth is, we want to do Ducklings full-time. We want to make Dreamy Ducklings a platform for other NFT projects to launch off of, and launch an expansion ourselves. Here it is: There will be a future generation of Ducklings. These ducks will be accompanied with a much greater set of attributes, features, and even levels, with the ability to battle Ducklings and a set of other features. We want this to be largely community contributions, and will be opening discussion in our Discord about it.
Governance
Lastly, Governance may plan a role with Dreamy Ducklings in the future. This might look like a treasury used to buy up the Dreamy Ducklings floor, or to use funds to collaborate with other teams voted on by the community to further expand the reach of Dreamy Ducklings.
